At this point in the moving process, everything is a milestone. Like, the fact that today is my last day of work. It’s also my last Friday in Portland. And of course, the last weekend to eat and drink my way through the city. That’s probably the one part of the process that’s going extremely well. Packing and saying goodbyes? Here’s the truth about four-day weeks: you’re still required to squeeze five-days’ worth of work in. So I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for the weekend. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining. The three-day weekend was really lovely. I spent a few days at the Oregon coast with friends, which involved barefoot walks on the beach, long games of Cards Against Humanity, wine in plastic cups, and sleeping on the top bunk. All in all a phenomenal little get away. My saving grace coming back to reality this week was that the internet was full of hilarious things. This week was a total bust. I realized that Amazon Prime comes with free live streaming video rentals, and I’ve watched the first 4 seasons of Parenthood. I know (!!). I might need an intervention soon. Except, I’ve already planned out my weekend for season 5. And I’d love to get through that first. It’s been absolutely goooorgeous weather here in the Pacific Northwest this week, but the rain is headed back in starting tomorrow. Parenthood marathon and margaritas in the rain? Yessss. It’s been total spring weather in Portland. It poured most of the day yesterday, but we’ve seen glimpses of the sun sporadically, too. When it peaks through our windows, Lola’s always the first to chase down the sunny spot. I’m usually not far behind her.

Sometimes it feels like a surprise that Friday’s come so soon. This is not one of those weeks. From a heavy work load to scrambling to get taxes done, this week was all around nutty. TGIF!  Continue reading →

This weekend I’m running a 15K race. It’s not necessarily the 9-point-something miles that scares me, but the hills  - which cover the course and are apparently pretty brutal. Last night Sam said, “What’s the big deal? You ran a half!” to which I wanted to smack him. But I didn’t. See, the half marathon was 3 months ago. And I was training like crazy. Way more than I’ve been running lately. So if there’s radio silence from me next week, it’s safe to assume I’m in bed, covered in ice and band aids.  In the meantime, here’s a look at some of the links that made me happy this week!
