Holiday Sangria Spritzer
So I did it. I finished my first half-marathon yesterday. That’s a whopping 13.1 miles. And you know what? I never thought I’d say this - but the first 12 miles really weren’t so bad. After all, I’ve been training for months. But that last 1.1 miles? MAN, I hated my life. I was suddenly very aware of the rain, blisters, chaffing and thirst, and I wanted to start walking so badly. In fact, I almost did start walking. But a few things kept me going: 1) my fab running partner, 2) wanting to get the f&@!ing run over with, and 3) knowing that there would be celebratory cocktails. And indeed there were. Cocktails, that is.
Hours after the run, once I had rehydrated, showered, napped and finally started feeling alive again, I set out to make my celebratory drink. I wanted something light and not overly sweet, so I whipped up a batch of white sangria spritzer (note: I use the term “whipped” lightly as I was, and still am, moving very slowly!). And you know what? It totally hit the spot. So whether you’re running a half marathon or staying warm by the fire, I hope you enjoy this {lighter} holiday cocktail.
Aloha, and welcome to Margaritas In The Rain! My name is Marisa. I live in Hawaii, where I cook approachable food. With an island twist. And yes, I do love drinking margaritas on rainy days. Care to join me?
