Things Lola Ate.

THINGS LOLA ATE.jpg

We’re at the strange period in our lives where most of our friends are starting to have kids. We don’t have children, yet, but we do have a Lola.

Lola was part of a large groups of dogs that was rescued from a puppy mill down in California, and shipped up to Oregon to be adopted. Because of that, there are lots of things we don’t know about her – like her breed or her exact birth date. But, since we were told she was born “around April,” that’s when we celebrate. And this April(ish) marks her second birthday.

It’s no secret that Lola is a bit of a handful, to put it lightly. As a first time dog owner, it’s hard to know how much of that is our fault vs. simply her nature. We’ve done puppy training classes, read the books, tried different theories – but at the end of the day, she still does what she wants. And it usually involves one of two things: 1) causing mischief or 2) snuggling. Regardless of which one she’s up to, I’m so smitten.

In honor of her birthday – and hopefully the end of her mischievous puppy phase (wishful thinking?) – I thought I’d give you a glimpse into our lives by sharing just a few pics of the daily joke around our house: What did Lola eat today?

{For your sake, I’ve left out several more startling pictures including chewed electric lines, a finishing nail in her, *ahem*, business, and other toxic edibles.}

destructive dog^^ Just a small sampling of the shoes destroyed.

destructive puppy^^ Memory card with pictures not yet downloaded.

lola eats paper^^ Magazines! Recycling! Our mail …

lola eats toilet paper^^ …and don’t get me started on the toilet paper situation.

destructive puppy^^ A ballpoint pen. On my fave West Elm rug.

indestructible dog toys^^ And last but not least, “indestructible” dog toys #1 and #2.

I’m dying to know. What kind of trouble do your pets get in?

    But she’s so cute!

    Scooby’s highlight reel includes a large bag of glitter, two SD cards, and the top lip of 4ft. of our baseboard in the living room…

  4. Love this! I finally took the plunge a few months back and bought a pair of frye boots that I’d been drooling over for years. My little dog had never chewed a shoe on our house in the four years since I adopted him…until he chewed my new boots. It’s impossible to stay mad at those little fur babies, though. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge tonight for our class!
