Mark Your Calendars for Taste of The Nation
Because I’m so food obsessed, one of my favorite causes is the ever-growing hunger problem here in America. I’ve volunteered at my local food bank for years, but more recently, I’ve began participating in events lead by a remarkable nonprofit called Share Our Strength. I love the organization because they specifically help feed children. And they do it by rallying the food community together to raise awareness and funds. The latest stats show that one in five kids in America struggles with hunger. That’s 16 million kids. Frankly, it’s hard for me to imagine that. But I know something has to change.
One of their big fundraising events of the year is called Taste Of The Nation. The Portland event is right around the corner, but your city probably has one too (and you can see the full list of events here). Taste Of The Nation pulls together each city’s best chefs, breweries, wineries, distillers, candy makers, etc. for an evening of eating and drinking. Tickets to the event aren’t cheap, but I can assure you – you get every penny’s worth. I walked out of last year’s event completely stuffed. And, possibly a little tipsy. Best tax right off ever.
I recently attended a media preview of this year’s Portland event, and I can assure you this year will be no different.
So no matter what area of the country you’re in, buy your ticket. Eating and drinking never felt so good!
